The 4-Pillar Content Strategy

This is the answer to the question every church communicator asks while staring at a blank Monday: what on earth do we post? There are four pillars, and every strong piece of content lives in one of them. Once you can see them, that empty calendar stops being so scary!

Think of these four as the food groups of your content. No single post has to pull off all four, you're just after a healthy mix across them over a week or a month. (And this sits right on top of the 5 P's from your foundations work: the 5 P's are where your stories come from, and the pillars are what those stories turn into.)
Step 1

The four pillars

Read these first. You'll fill in your own ideas next.

1Teach & Inspire

Point people toward wisdom, hope, and the truths that hold them steady.

Sounds like
A "what we're learning this week" carousel, a reel with one hopeful thought from Sunday, a quote tile with a short reflection.
2Encourage & Support

Pastoral care, in digital form. It's the online version of sliding a cup of coffee across the table and asking how someone's really doing.

Sounds like
A prayer request box in Stories, a midweek check-in ("what do you need prayer for this week?"), a real reply back in the DMs to anyone who answers.
3Celebrate & Uplift

Turn the spotlight outward: onto your people, your community, your little moments of joy.

Sounds like
A volunteer spotlight with a thank-you, a carousel from an event with a note on why it mattered, a "story of the week" from someone in your pews.
4Invite & Inform

Clear and welcoming, your friendly "come and see." Done well, it never feels pushy, just warm and easy to follow.

Sounds like
A clear event post (who, what, when, where, and why it matters), a "three ways to join in this month" carousel, a Story reminder the day before and the morning of.
Step 2

Under each pillar, what could YOUR church actually post?

One or two ideas per pillar. Real beats perfect, every time.

Step 3

Lean in

All four matter. One is worth extra attention this season.

Which pillar does your church need most right now? All four matter, and your audience read might be pointing you toward one worth leaning into this season.

Your Content Plan

Here's your 4-pillar starter mix, in your words, for your church. Keep it somewhere you plan your posts, and the next time that blank calendar shows up, you'll already have a place to start.
